ABM Publishing
Ltd is a family business based in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire. We
publish two monthly family history magazines: Family Tree
Magazine and Practical Family History.
21 years ago,
when there was no other national family history magazine
available, Michael and Mary Armstrong decided to turn their
hobby into a business and Family Tree Magazine was the
result.

The first issue of Family Tree Magazine appeared in November
1984. Circulation of the publication grew rapidly over the
years and now sells in more than 40 countries throughout the
world. Family Tree Magazine is still the world’s best
selling British genealogical publication.
Practical Family History was founded in 1997 and is
published for those new to family history. It is presented
in a style that helps the beginner by introducing the
records easily available to get your research off the
ground.
Both monthly magazines have regular contributions from
leading personalities in the world of family history. Each

In May 2004 the founding director
Michael Armstrong and the company were awarded the Society
of Genealogists’ prestigious Prince Michael of Kent Award
for ‘Introducing family history to a wider audience over the
past 20 years’.
