Tips and Advice for skiing holidays.
|
Skiing can be an extremely fun holiday; however
there are tips and advice which may make even
more enjoyable.
Helmets may keep your head warmer than ski hats
however your head and face still need some
protecting. Balaclavas are best for this as it
covers your face and keeps your head warm!

|
Warn your fellow skiers when you are coming
past, by shouting ‘on your left’ or ‘on your
right’. This shows consideration to fellow
skiers and can make things a lot safer.
Right of way
The person down the ski trail from
you has the right of way. If you see a slower
skier or snowboarder then warn that person of
your presence and stay far away.
Helmets
Protect your head from lift towers, hard
snow, ice etc therefore it is extremely
important that you wear one.
Control
Every skier has lost control and fallen
over, however if you try your best to keep
control then you are more likely to stay on your
feet.

Getting into the ski lift
Slide down the line
while you wait for the chair, ensure that you
have a free hand, as the chair nears the backs
of your legs extend your free hand to the chair
and sit.
Put the bar down When using a ski’s lift chair
use the bar to stop you from falling, that is
what it is there for and can prevent serious
injury. |
 |
Obey the signs and don’t enter the slow zone
- The
slow zone is designed for everyone’s safety and
are typically found at the bottom of the bases.
Don’t be tempted to use the slow zone for
quicker lift access.
Know your ability
Use your trail maps and
consider where you can and cannot ski on a
mountain.
Know the area rules
On the first day look out
for the area’s rules. Check the trail map and
the lift ticket.
