Inputting -32 in my scientific calculator gives
the answer -9, when it should be +9. How do I get the right
answer? |
 |
The correct mathematical notation for the calculation is as
follows : (-3)2 , giving the correct answer +9.
Use the familiar BODMAS rule. |

I have an FX calculator and am trying to change the mode to
comp. I have pressed all the buttons and cannot get comp on
the display, why? |
 |
Comp is the default operating mode, and is not displayed on
the screen. |

I have just recently purchased a new FX calculator, I am
trying to calculate percentages but I am getting the wrong
answer, is my calculator faulty? E.g. 100 + 10% = 111.11 |
 |
No, the calculator is not faulty. Scientific calculators use
Casio percentage logic. To make the calculation, the
following keystrokes should be used :
100 x 10% + = 110
Note. If the percentage needs to be subtracted, the
subtract key (-) should be pressed instead of the plus key
(+) |

I have an FX calculator and am trying to do a simple
calculation, and I am getting the wrong answer. E.g. 10 + 2
x 2 = 14, when the answer should be 24, what is wrong? |
 |
The reason for this is, the calculator follows the correct
mathematical logic, performing calculations in the following
order :
Brackets
Of
Divide
Multiplication
Addition
Subtraction
To perform the calculation (10 + 2) x 2 = 24, brackets
should be used. |

I had an old FX calculator and used the sin, cos and tan
keys, in the new calculator that I have bought I do the same
calculation and I get 0 (zero) E.g. 205 ÷ 42 tan = 0. Why is
this happening? |
 |
Firstly V.P.A.M stands for, Visually Perfect Algebraic
Method, which allows equations to be entered into the
calculator as they would be written on the page. This is the
reason your calculation is not giving you the right answer.
E.g. on paper the calculation would be written as, 205 ÷ tun
42 = 227.68, and this is the way you type it into the
calculator. |

What do I press when my screen displays an error message? |
 |
Ac/on key will always clear the message. Note the left
\scroll key will take you to the error whenever possible. |
