Curriculum Partnerships

CITB-ConstructionSkills has established regional networks – called Curriculum Partnerships – with representatives from FE colleges, LEAs, professional institutions, employers, schools and careers services to provide quality information, advice, guidance and support to teachers in schools and colleges.

Learning seminars, placements for careers advisors and teachers, site visits, work experience and work shadowing placements for students are just a few of the initiatives organised by the Curriculum Centres.

Construction Awards Scheme*

Using construction as a context for learning for 5-14 year olds, this interactive CD ROM resource offers a new and interesting approach to delivering key curriculum areas including literacy, numeracy, science, design and technology.

  • It assists in developing values, skills and knowledge associated with both the National Curriculum (Key Stages 1 to 3) and construction and the built environment.

  • It increases awareness of the wider issues affecting planning and construction of commercial and domestic buildings, together with the social, economic and environmental development of communities.

  • It motivates pupils, across all levels of attainment, through achievement of ‘Awards’ – bronze, silver and gold.

  • It has Curriculum online approval.

For more information on the scheme and how you can get involved visit www.constructionawards.co.uk

*The scheme operates in England and Wales only.

Construction Ambassadors

To give young people a real-life perspective of the industry, schools can tap into a national network of Construction Ambassadors to give presentations, help with activity days, school visits and attend careers events.

Representing a variety of professions, from civil engineers and site managers through to marketing and architecture, Construction Ambassadors may be graduates or experienced professionals who can give insights into different job roles and help bring to life the excitement of a career in construction.

Linking with a Construction Ambassador will also give you links with local construction companies.
