Do you need to lose weight?
You may already know whether you are overweight, an 'OK
weight' or underweight. To make sure, check with your
doctor or practice nurse. They will also be able to work
out a realistic weight for you to aim for.

There's no miracle cure or diet for losing weight.
In fact, crash diets can be harmful. They may make
it easy to lose weight, but it's harder to keep it
off. Experts now recommend avoiding the 'roller
coaster' or 'yo-yo' effect of constantly losing
weight and then putting it back on again.
Instead,
aim for a small, gradual weight loss through permanent
changes to your lifestyle (e.g. eating healthily and
becoming more active). It's especially important to do
more activity, to use up some of those stored-up
calories. |
