Shaving remains the
centrepiece of every man’s skin care regime. But many guys have no
idea how to get a truly smooth, close shave.
A number of men decide that wet
shaving with a blade is more desirable than an electric shaver since
a closer shave is achieved. However, it is not simply a case of
using shaving foam, a razor, then splashing the face with water. It
is much better to follow a regular, suitable technique.

Having a bath or a shower before you shave, helps to remove the
natural oils and perspiration that inhibit water penetration.
Although beard hair is as tough as copper wire, applying warm water
to the face causes the hair to expand, which makes it softer and
easier to cut. The force required to cut the beard is reduced by 70
percent after a two-minute application of warm water. This will
help to avoid getting redness and blotches on your face and neck.
You should also ensure that the blade isn’t blunt, if it is you will
end up with a shaving rash. As soon as you feel that the blade
isn’t performing, replace it. |

Ensure that you apply plenty of shaving cream or gel. Although water
is the essential softening agent, the water absorbed by hair quickly
evaporates, leaving the hair in its original rigid state, which can
make it difficult to shave. Shaving cream or gel provides a
protective blanket that prevents the evaporation of water, and keeps
beards soft during the shave. Also the lubricating characteristics
of shaving cream and gel reduces the friction between the blade and
the skin, improving the razor glide for a smoother shaving
experience and enhanced skin care.
