After Shave
It is unwise to apply an alcohol-based aftershave directly onto the
skin after shaving as your skin can become inflamed as your pores
are open. It is better to wait at least 15 - 20 minutes before
applying aftershave. If you suffer from razor bumps, acne or any
skin condition consult your GP. Remember that bad shaving techniques
can damage your skin.
Many men suffer from ingrown hairs. This is when the hair curls back
and grows underneath the skins surface. Due to the re-entry of the
hair, there is space where bacterial infections thrive and the
result is a pimple, spot or a razor bump. |

Razor bumps
Razor bumps are ugly sores or pimples caused by bacterial
infections. They are found in the beard area of the face, around the
jaw and on the chin and neck. Generally it is men with curly hair in
particular who suffer from razor bumps, this is due to the nature of
their hair growth. This creates problems when the hair grows back on
itself.
There are a wide range of balms, lotions and aftershave gels which
can be applied to the skin after you have shaved. The aim of these
products is to replace the moisture that has been lost through
shaving and reduce the chances of razor burn and rash. There are
many products available which have been specifically developed to
suit certain skin types, such as sensitive skin, dry skin or
combination skin.
