By following these steps, you should achieve an ultra-smooth, close shave and eliminate all those shaving troubles such as cuts and shaving rash.

Make sure your stubble or hair has been thoroughly soaked with warm water, this causes the hair to expand, which makes it easier and softer to cut.

Ensure that the shaving foam or gel is massaged into the stubble or hair.  Water absorbs very quickly therefore shaving foam or gel provides a protective blanket, which prevents the evaporation of water and keeps beards soft during the shave.

Use light gentle strokes when shaving.  Rinse the razor frequently to prevent the build up of hairs and shave cream on the blade edges and in the cartridge. This improves razor glide for a smoother shave.  Do not press too hard especially around the sensitive areas.

Cheeks, sides of face and neck tend to be the easiest areas to shave therefore they should be shaved first.  The toughest hair grows on the chin and around the lips.  These should be shaved last, allowing the shave cream time to soften them further.

Shave slowly using short strokes and rinse the blade often in hot water.

Try to shave in the direction of hair growth, as shaving in the opposite direction increases the risk of redness and razor burn.

Rinse the area that you have shaved with cool water.
