Honda Facts & Figures
In
1959 Honda produced the Honda C100 SuperCub
motorcycle. The SuperCub has the record of
selling over 50 million cycles worldwide.
Honda is the world’s largest producer of
motorcycles.
Honda was the first Japanese carmaker to
establish factories in the United States and now
has several, as well as in Canada.
Always innovative, Honda was the first car
manufacturer in the world to introduce 4WD (four
wheel drive) to a passenger car.
They were also the first Japanese manufacturer
to introduce a safety airbag to their Legend
model.
Honda founded a football (soccer) club in the
early1970’s, which has achieved success, and who
were the Japanese Football League (JFL)
champions in 2006.
Honda is experimenting with robot development as
part of their robotics programme.
Honda was very early on involved in the
development of hybrid models of cars, combining
a petrol engine together with rechargeable
batteries for automotive power in an effort to
create greater fuel efficiency.
