Cradle Cap

Also known as seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Cradle Cap is a disease of the scalp that affects new born babies. It is very common and causes no lasting damage. It also causes no pain. The symptoms are greasy, yellow patches which appear on the scalp. Doctors are not sure why this condition occurs, although many believe that it occurs naturally. Cradle Cap is considered a mild version of eczema. However if it spreads to the body you should consult a doctor.

What to Do

There are a couple of simple home remedies that can help the problem.
Try massaging the scalp with one of the following substances;

- mineral oil
- olive oil
- vitamin e oil
- aloe vera gel
- Vaseline

This may need to be repeated over a period of time.
