Fifth Disease
Also known as Slapped Cheek Disease/ Syndrome or Erythema Infectiosum
Fifth Disease or Slapped Cheek Syndrome as it is commonly known normally starts with a mild fever
and a stuffed up or runny nose. A few days later a bright red rash will appear on your child's face and actually looks like a mark from a slap. Several days later the rash will spread down
the body and then begin to fade. The incubation period is approximately 14 days.
What to Do
Nothing. The rash will come and go. It is pointless to apply any lotions to the rash as they make no difference.
When the rash has fully come out your child is no longer infectious.
