Swollen Glands
It is quite common for children to have lumps at some time or another on their neck. More often
than not they represent swollen lymph glands. Lymph glands produce the white blood cells that fight infection and are a crucial part of the human body's immune system.
When humans are ill, the glands located around the body (mainly under the jaw, armpits and groin)
grow slightly and enlarge as they produce more white blood cells to fight infection.
It is natural for glands to change size slightly over periods of time. If however the glands enlarge and stay enlarged for over two-three weeks you should seek medical assistance.
