Whooping Cough
Whooping cough is a serious bacterial infection of the respiratory system. The infection is spread
through the air by someone coughing or sneezing and droplets being passed into someone else's mouth.
The early symptoms are similar to a common cold with a runny or stuffed nose and a mild fever.
7-10 days after the first symptoms the coughing will start. The characteristic
sound of 'whoop' is
not a cry for joy but the sound of your child inhaling after coughing.
Whooping cough can last up to ten weeks in certain cases from the initial symptoms of a cold until
the cough is completely cured. It is highly contagious and the incubation period is p to three weeks.
The illness can be simply avoided through inoculation.
