Penguin and Lion Club
How the PENGUIN CLUB works
The Penguin Club at Newquay Zoo is for young people aged
8-11 years old who are interested in the Zoo, animals
and conservation. Membership payments should be made in
May at the start of the Penguin Club year. Please note
anyone wanting to join halfway through the year will
still be required to pay full membership.
Penguin Club activities in the past include:
Observing the behaviour of their favourite animals.
Working out ways in which they could add enrichment to
animal enclosures.
Learning about how animals communicate.
Visiting animal collections.
When, where and how?
Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month
between 2pm and 4pm, and annual Club membership costs
£17.50
(valid for 2007).
As well as taking part in a range of interesting
activities, members will receive:
A club badge and passport to the Zoo (so you can get
in free to each meeting).
A Christmas party, with games, prizes and cards.
A club newsletter or mailing twice a year.
An end of year trip!
All you need to do is fill in the application form.

How the LION PRIDE club works.
PRIDE is for young people aged 12-16 years old who are
interested in the Zoo, animals and conservation.
Outlined below is what PRIDE stands for and some of the
activities you may be involved in.
PROTECT Help support conservation by fundraising for
Zoo projects.
RESEARCH Study the behaviour of the animals, design and
make enrichment for them.
INTERACT Meet people who have similar interests and
develop team-building skills.
DISCOVER Learn interesting facts about the animals and
their habitats.
EDUCATE Increase your knowledge of animals and
conservation and use this knowledge to educate others.

animals which are part of breeding programmes here at
Newquay Zoo.
