Dry Skin lacks both oil and moisture. It can be flaky and tends to feel tight and rough

What causes dry skin?
It might sound obvious, but it’s the best explanation: dry skin has too little fat and moisture. This reduces the efficiency of the epidermis – resulting in the familiar roughness.

Approx. 14% of people suffer from dry skin. Their skin has too little fat and moisture. This reduces the efficiency of the epidermis, and the skin can no longer completely fulfil its protective function. Its resistance and elasticity are reduced. It is extremely sensitive to external and internal stresses, and tends to age prematurely. But this is no inescapable fate: gentle cleansing and rich skincare products can help even dry skin to look younger for longer.

In general, most people tend to develop dry skin as they grow older. This is quite normal, as both the skin’s ability to regenerate itself and sebum production lessens with age. Our skin’s natural hydrolipidic film thus becomes thinner and more prone to the effects of damaging environmental influences. That’s why dry skin needs special protection.
