Understanding Your Acne Treatment Options
The two main methods of acne treatment that you can follow are topical treatment and systemic treatment. Before selecting treatment, you must have a good understanding of acne, the exact type of acne that you have and to set goals for your acne treatment. 

Points to remember
Treatment is available that can prevent acne scarring.
Early treatment minimizes the severity of acne. 
Treatment may last for months and often years.
You should understand that improvement can be slow. 

Selecting  Acne treatment depends on the following:
 

The severity of your acne.
The effectiveness of the treatment and possible side effects.
Your personal preferences.
Other circumstances specific to girls and women.



Acne Treatment

A medical consultation is a must to determine the severity of acne and type of treatment you need.
 

Acne cleansers:  Contain Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide.  
Over-the-counter products:  E.g: Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid.
Topical retinoids:  Retin-A, Differin, Tazorac.
Topical antibiotics:  Eythromycin, Minocin
Systemic treatment:  Mainly antibiotics and Accutane.
