Science is a hands-on laboratory class. You will
be doing many experiments that require the use
of hazardous chemicals. Safety in the science
classroom is the number 1 priority for students,
teachers, and parents.
To ensure a safe science classroom, a list of
rules has been developed and provided to you in
this student safety contract. These rules must
be followed at all times.

-
Always wear a lab apron and goggles when you
work with chemicals, hot liquids, or other materials
that could harm you.
-
Do NOT wear nylon or polyester in the laboratory
when we are working with chemicals or heat.
-
Always wear closed shoes during labs to protect
your feet from spills.
- If
you spill chemicals on your clothing or skin,
wash IMMEDIATELY with plenty of water to dilute
and remove the substance.
-
Always alert your teacher to any spills on your
skin or clothing.
-
Never taste or smell ANY chemicals unless your
teacher tells you it is safe to do so.

Tie or pin long hair back to avoid contact with
flame or chemicals.

Always know where the fire blanket, extinguisher,
