About Us

“Save the Children fights for children in the UK and around the world who suffer from poverty, disease and violence. We work with them to find lifelong answers to problems that they face”.

Save the Children is a charity based organisation that concentrates on making a difference to children’s lives. The work throughout the world providing emergency and long term relief and developing and campaigning policies with the governments and other organisations to ensure that children are getting the adequate resources that they are entitled to.

Save the Children was founded in 1919, by Eglantyne Jebb as a response to the condition in Europe after the First World War. Since then, they have continued to work with children throughout the world with response to emergencies, conflict and long term problems.

They have had many achievements over the years, including the special report No Place For A Child which was raised in the House of Lords regarding refugee children being locked up in detention centre. They also encouraged the UK Government to work towards reducing child poverty. They have provided support to major emergencies and remained committed to improve access to and the quality of healthcare.

Save the Children try to view thing through the eyes of a child; they ensure that they set ‘practical’ challenges and are prepared to be outspoken and radical if necessary. They gain expertise through the projects from around the world and they use their knowledge to educate and advise others.

Children matter to Save the Children; they believe children need the best start in life and have the right to “Live in a world where they have hope and opportunity. Children need special care and assistance, without which they cannot fully develop their potential”.
