Introduction - Football Violence

The game of football has been associated with violence throughout it's entire history. The very first version of football in China began as a training session for soldiers and the association has existed ever since. In the Middle Ages across Europe, versions of the game were played by hundreds of people and it was very common for participants to suffer broken bones and bruises in the course of the game.
