Other F.I.F.A. Awards

As well as rewarding its various world champion teams with cups and diplomas, F.I.F.A. also presents titles to individuals: the top scorer at every championship receives the “Adidas Golden Shoe”, the best player (as elected by the media and other experts) receives the Golden Ball, and the Fair Play Trophy goes to the team which best adheres to the laws and the spirit of the game. There are also two awards related exclusively to the World Cup: the most entertaining Team award and the Lev Yashin award for the best goalkeeper.

F.I.F.A. also presents an annual prize which has come to signify the true climax of an individual player’s career: the F.I.F.A. World player of the Year Award, allocated on the basis of votes cast by the world’s national team coaches. And since 1993 there have been two annual trophies for the Best Team and the Best Mover based on the F.I.F.A/Coca-Cola World Ranking. In addition, special acts of fair play are recognised by the annual Fair Play Award, which often goes to an individual or a group who otherwise enjoy little share of the spotlight.
