Dehydration
Dehydration occurs when the human body loses excess water.
This can occur through a number of ways including sweating, vomiting and diarrhoea.
The key is to rehydrate the body through the ingestion of liquids, preferably liquids that are
sugary.
The main symptoms of dehydration are as follows:
-
dry lips/ dry mouth.
-
no toilet activity - this tends to happen as a result of the body conserving liquids and therefore.
-
no urine is produced.
What to Do
If dehydrated you should encourage your child to drink lots of sugary fluids.
Sit with them if you must and raise the drink to their mouth repeatedly.
If your child does not seem to be recovering after taking on liquids contact your doctor.
