What is
Shock?
Shock
is a life threatening illness that can be caused by severe bleeding,
sudden illness or an injury. Oxygen fails to reach all parts of the body
and the body’s major organs fail to work properly. Shock is very serious
and without proper medical treatment victims can die.
Call
999 and ask for an ambulance immediately.
Symptoms of Shock:

Restlessness or irritability. |

Altered consciousness. |
 |
Pale, moist, cool and eventually blue
skin. |
 |
Rapid
breathing |
 |
Rapid
pulse |
In an
Emergency
 |
Call
999 immediately. |
 |
Let
the victim lie down to avoid discomfort and pain. |
 |
Control
any bleeding. |
 |
Prevent
the victim from being too cold or too warm. |
 |
Reassure
the victim that everything is going to be all right. |
 |
Lift
the legs about a foot off the floor. (DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU SUSPECT BROKEN BONES). |

Do
not give the person anything to eat or drink.
