A Guide to Shopping Online at Argos.co.uk

Paying for your Products

Once you have found the product you are looking for and have decided to buy it, then it's time to begin the payment process. Firstly, you need to add the product to your trolley. To do this, simply click the trolley link next to the product you would like. Doing this will place the item into your trolley, and will take you the trolley screen (below)

At this stage, you can still remove the item from the trolley if you decide not to buy. The trolley screen below shows a typical example, and the key points of the trolley process/page have been highlighted and are explained below.

Product Chosen: This area displays the name of the product you have added to your trolley, as well as the catalogue number and the quantity of the product you've chosen. This quantity can be changed by adjusting the figure in the box (you can order up to ten of any one item). A delivery estimate is also made at this stage unless you wish to collect from store.

Summary of cost: This shows the price you will pay for the product, and includes cost (if any) of delivery.

Go to checkout: If you decide you would like to make the purchase, click here to go the checkout, where you will be asked for delivery and payment details.

Once you have decided to make the purchase and have clicked 'go to checkout', you will be taken to the checkout where you will be asked to enter payment and delivery details.

At this point, the site enters 'secure mode'. Secure mode means that all of the details you enter are guarded and encrypted so that your details cannot be accessed by anyone else. You can check to see that the site has entered secure mode by the appearance of a small padlock symbol at the bottom right of your browser window.

You will firstly be asked to enter your details, such as name, address and contact telephone number. You can then enter you delivery details, should they be different.

Then, we will ask you to enter your payment details ie the type of card your are using, the card number and expiry date. You will also be asked to confirm a delivery date, and ask for next day or Saturday delivery (if available on the product you have chosen).

Having entered these details, you will be presented with a summary screen, which presents all the details of your order to you for you check. Details can be altered at this stage should there be any inaccuracies. If the details are correct, clicking submit will process the order.

Once you card has been authorised, you will see an order confirmation containing an order number. This is your receipt and proof of purchase, so should be printed. We will also send you an email confirming your order details, again this should be retained for proof of purchase.

SUMMARY OF THE ORDER PROCESS.

  • Select the item you would like to buy, and then add to the trolley

  • Check that the details and quantity are correct in the trolley, and then 'go to checkout'.

  • Enter your billing address (your home address) and the address where you would like the goods to be delivered.

  • Enter your payment details

  • Having been presented with a summary screen, check that the details are correct and if so, press submit to complete your order.

  • Keep your email and a printed copy of the on screen confirmation as your receipt.
