Ben's® Insect Repellent was developed in the USA in the early 1980’s to satisfy a particular demand for insect repellents. Although DEET (diethyl-m-toluamide) -based products, were available they were in lower concentrations. Ben's® developers created their own repellent using 100% DEET to create a stronger, more effective and longer lasting repellent.

Ben's® wipes are suitable for all the family from 2 years old upwards. Being in a sachet they are convenient to carry and handy to use, ideal for the unexpected situation, delivering a measured amount and even coverage.

DEET has consistently been shown to be the most effective repellent active available. With a 30% concentration Ben's® Wipes are one of the most effective wipes available. For prolonged exposure to biting insects, especially in areas where insect-borne disease is prevalent, we would recommend using Ben's® 100 spray.

Ben’s®30 Standard Strength is a water-based 30% concentration DEET insect repellent, providing up to 8 hours protection against mosquitoes, midges, ticks and all types of biting insects. It is now available in a NEW 100ml Pump Spray.

Why does Ben’s®30 use water instead of alcohol as most other DEET insect repellents do?

Because water does not evaporate as quickly as alcohol, and does not open the pores, the need to frequently reapply the repellent is reduced. Therefore Ben’s®30 will be an appropriate choice for protecting children as well as adults, leaving more insect repellent on the skin so that it fights against biting insects longer.

Alcohol creates a strong aroma providing the traditional ‘insect repellent’ smell. The water-based formula isn’t as strong smelling and, with the addition of fragrant Lemongrass oil, is much more pleasant to use.

Ben’s®30 Standard Strength is recommended for general family use (children aged from 2 years upwards) in most European locations. When travelling to more exotic places where insect-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever and West Nile Virus are prevalent or if you suffer severe reactions from insect bites, adults should use Ben’s®100 Safari Strength for maximum protection.

For children upwards of 12 months old and for those adults wishing to avoid chemicals and use a natural repellent then new Ben’s® Natural would be a logical choice. However, you should be aware that natural repellents are only suitable in areas where there is definitely no risk of insect-borne diseases.
