The park area itself is shrouded in history, as a
working mill once occupied the site, and during
refurbishments one of its original mill stones was
unearthed, which can now be viewed by the Park’s Fantasy
Ride. Additionally, the Sharkesville Golf Course
has its own tale; it is built on the site of an old Fort
Battery which was constructed in 1759-1760 in order to
protect the harbour. Only a stones-throw away from the
sandy beaches and river mouth, Harbour Park offers the
perfect base to further explore Littlehampton’s
educational venues and natural surroundings.
