Kates Skates have been supporting the skating industry for nearly 10 years now. During this time it has built itself up into one of the largest skating shops in the UK, and certainly it is the largest skate shop on the net. We also travel to various skate events around the country. Look out for us at Board X, Urban Games, etc.

The staff at Kates are fully committed to skating in its various forms. The director is a member of the British Roller Sports federation, which is the national governing body of roller skating and inline skating within the UK. So whether your interests lie in inline aggressive skating on ramps or street, recreational skating, roller skating on traditional quads or roller boots, speed skating, long boarding, skateboarding, all terrain boarding, roller hockey, off road skating, or even old school boarding we have the personnel who have the experience and know-how to help you. As we are an independent shop, we are able to provide bias free advice on a whole range of products – many of them used by ourselves.

The website is updated on a daily basis and where an item is not immediately available for dispatch then this is clearly indicated. Most items are available for dispatch within one or two days. As well as all the products shown on the website we have access to most suppliers catalogues, so if you can’t see what you want, then please ask as we can generally get most things. We strive to answer all e-mails written within 24 hours, though at busy times this may not always be possible.

We are always prepared to quote for multiple orders, and bulk purchases can usually be negotiated at considerably discounted prices.

To get around the site, select the department that you want from the top blue selection band e.g. Skateboards, Aggressive, etc. Having selected the department, then a list of categories is displayed down the left of the screen showing the various items related to that department. For example within the aggressive skates department the categories include inline skates, frames, wheels, bearings etc. Having selected a specific category then across the top of the screen just below the menu bar is displayed a list of brands of products within that category. This enables you to find a product by brand name. If you are not sure whether one brand is compatible with another, then a quick phone call or e-mail to us can solve that.

The website is split into the various disciplines, all of which contain a full range of supporting equipment. The disciplines are explained as follows:-

Skateboarding:
Kates skates have a large range of skateboards covering all the major US and UK Brands. It is one of the few skate shops who carry nearly all the British manufacturers’ products. To go with the decks is an extensive array of bearings, trucks, wheels, hardware, and everything needed to make a complete set up. Some complete set-ups are available to buy and skate away on.
We have already stated that the website is updated on a daily basis. As decks come in and go out daily is it essential that the site is maintained as regularly as it is. New stock is instantly available and decks are removed as they are sold. All 300 odd decks displayed on the site are in stock and ready to go.
As well as a full range of skateboards, Kates Skates has one of the largest ranges of skate shoes available anywhere in the country. Over 600 different shoe style/colour combinations. Because we work very closely with the manufacturers we can show a much larger inventory than most other shops and can turn around an order for almost any shoes shown on the site within five days.

Aggressive skates:
Aggressive skating on inline skates is one of the more popular forms of skating within the UK. It involves either skating up and down ramps or grinding on rails and kerbs and the skates used for this are necessarily quite heavy and very robust. We have a good range of aggressive skates from all the major manufactures such a Salomon, Rollerblade, USD, Deshi, Anarchy, Inliners, Roces, Razors and K2. We are able to advise on price points and suitability of the various products.

Fitness skates:
The fitness skate market, though small within the UK is actually the largest worldwide skate market. The market share of fitness skates will probably grow in the UK as facilities get better and more people realise the benefits of skating over jogging. Kates offers a full range of fitness skates from suppliers such as K2, Roces and Salomon. Fitness skates are designed to be worn for long periods to cover long distances and to be comfortable. At the upper end of the range they can also be quite fast! We are able to advise which would be most suitable for each individual’s needs and levels of competence.

Roller-skates:
Kates Skates has a full range of roller-skates from the traditional leather dance skate through artistic entry level skates, right through to the ultra modern futuristic K2 models. None of them are like the skates you had as a kid. We have a full selection of bearings and wheels to suit everything from dance to hockey. Advice is free.

Children’s:
We do not sell toys. Our children’s skates are adult quality in smaller sizes. For cheap skates you must go to Toys R Us or Argos.
Many of our children’s skates now come in adjustable sizes to enable the user to get much more use from a quality product. We have a good range of related product such as clothing (jeans, tees, etc) protection, helmets, wheels and others available.

Off road :
We have a full range of off-road skates and all-terrain (mountain) boards. This is one of the fastest growing areas of skateboarding with many people choosing atb’s to be wind driven by kites. As well as the atb’s shown on the site we have access to the more specialist boards, so if you don’t see what you want, please ask though it could prove expensive.

Long boards:
Long boards or cruisers are for those people who want cruise at speed. They can be like tarmac snowboards or you could surf the road. They are no good for trick skating but are quite an experience; we have a comprehensive range of boards and accessories.

Speed Skates:
These are not for everyone. Speed Skates are more like shoes with a four or five wheel frame and not surprisingly are very fast. They do not have brakes, most skates are custom built to suit the individual and Kates Skates have one of the largest ranges of speed skates and parts in the UK.

Old school skateboards:
Kates Skates has a small selection of old school skateboards available for purchase ex stock. we also have access to the original catalogues from 1970 onwards. If you can remember the name and design, we may be able to help you re-find a miss-spent youth. Old school skateboards are also now known as pool boards and are now becoming quite sort after.
