Sophisticated
Games publishes high quality board games such as Lord of the
Rings, Beowulf, The Hobbit, The Golden Compass, Ingenious,
Shakespeare. We aim to develop games
that are mostly (but not exclusively) based on well known
literary brands.

The
company began in 1998 by publishing a board game
adaptation of the philosophical novel "Sophie's World"
in which a Norwegian schoolgirl explores 3000 years of
philosophy and history. Sales vastly exceeded
expectations and SG went on to acquire rights in Lord of
the Rings.
Over the next 4 years they published a whole range of
adult/family LOTR board games which were very successful
and noticed not only for their high quality gameplay
mechanisms but for the beauty of their art and
presentation.
Following this the company has published a number of
games based on books, namely Shakespeare, Beowulf,
Pillars of the Earth, one title based on both a book and
a film,
The Golden Compass (aka Northern Lights in the UK) and a
best selling abstract game called Ingenious that looks
like turning into a perennial classic. |
