What We Offer
We offer trips from 14 up to 54 days - in the comfort of
our specially designed expedition vehicle; a 1998-model
Mercedes 1820 truck. It is one of the best in the
business, with exceptional reliability and speed.
The truck is
designed with our clients in mind: as a result, comfort
and space are high on our list of priorities. The truck
seats only 16 passengers. A smaller group size
means that our tours have a favourable impact on local
communities and on the environment. |
 |
|
Reclining
coach-style seats, with over 1.3 metres of legroom, give
you the space you need on long days of travelling. Our
unique drop-down windows afford exceptional viewing.
Above each set of seats is a roof hatch to provide an
additional all-round viewing option, which is excellent
for photographers.
There are
two storage lockers per set of two seats. One locker is
located inside at your feet for your hand luggage/camera
gear and contains a box-safe for travel documents, money
and other valuables. The other is an outside baggage
locker. The truck itself is fully lockable. The linked
cab and passenger compartments allow for optimal
communication between passengers and the crew, and
includes an intercom system for educational talks while
on the move. |

Our tours
and facilities are primarily designed to cater for
students, staff and families who wish to gain knowledge
of and appreciate the countries that they are visiting.
You may be interested in wildlife, landscape, culture or
just adventure travel, but with Africa-in-Focus you get
so much more. There is the opportunity to learn about
taking better photographs with our photographically
knowledgeable Tour leader. While on tour he will run
workshops and discussions round the campfire on various
topics of photography, helping you gain a better insight
into the places that you visit with us.
Africa-in-Focus provides a crew of three (tour
leader/photographer, driver and cook) on all our tours:
they will make sure your trip is a truly memorable
experience! As part of our responsible tourism
initiative, your driver and cook are employed from
within Africa - thereby giving you the opportunity to
experience different cultures at first hand.
We offer
competitively priced overland tours of 2-8 weeks in
duration, covering the best of Southern and Eastern
Africa, including tailor-made trips for groups of 8-16
with particular interests. Our tour prices include many
highlights and activities that would be extras with
other companies.
|
All
National Park entry fees and all group activities,
now including the Okavango Delta wilderness trip,
are already included. While our overland tours are
not the cheapest on the market, you only need to
compare our prices with what other companies offer
(and what they do not include) to see that
Africa-in-Focus offers you the best value for money.

Accommodation
Our tours
are based mainly on camping: we provide spacious
dome-style tents (with built-in groundsheets and
netting) and thick foam mattresses and pillows.
Some nights
are in bedded chalets. When camping, we usually stay in
the best, accredited campsites, which all have good
washing/showering facilities - and some have swimming
pools and bars!
