Evidence from UK schools shows that
A.R.R.O.W. offers results in a rapid and sustained literacy and
speech learning curve after just a few hours of commencing the
program. Usually A.R.R.O.W. is implemented with groups of up to five
students per tutor. The group facility, for a wide range of learning
ability students, greatly enhances the appeal of this highly
advanced learning program.

Even students of average and above average literacy skills, benefit
greatly from using A.R.R.O.W. Educators have realised that the
carefully designed system allows the use of the Self-Voice within a
whole school approach for the improvement of reading, spelling and
communication skills. |

A.R.R.O.W. was initially tested and developed for use with
hearing-impaired students. It has, however, since been implemented
throughout a wide range of mainstream educational establishments. It
is stressed that A.R.R.O.W. helps all students. The program is
constantly being improved and refined by educators from different
disciplines throughout the UK and Caribbean. Teaching Assistants
trained in A.R.R.O.W. usually overview group tuition for KS 1, 2 and
3.
The curriculum content of the A.R.R.O.W. DVD material is based upon
National Literacy material which can be adapted according to
requirements. Customized programs can also be introduced for adults
needing Study or Life Skills. These wide ranging programs help
adults with personality disorders as well as community based adults
aiming to improve their reading, spelling, speech and communication
processes. The introduction of a Personalised Spelling Program,
based upon a student’s own error patterns, has been extremely well
received by both students and educators. The A.R.R.O.W. program
consists of a tightly structured combination of phonics and
look-learn strategies within both Topics and Spellings. The overall
focus within both strategies provides a high level of repetition.
A.R.R.O.W. is developing a Letters and Sounds program tailored to
Dcsf requirements.
