Avoncroft
Museum of Historic Buildings is a Different World for Education!
With over 25 historic buildings to explore Avoncroft can offer many
cross-curricular ideas for Key Stage 1, 2 and pupils.

Avoncroft
also offers an excellent selection of activity sessions, which include the
story of the 3 Little Pigs (looking at building materials through role
play), investigating homes through the ages (focusing on our Medieval
Merchant’s House, 19th century Toll House and 1946 Prefab)
and the history of brickmaking, where every child has the opportunity to
make a hand-made brick! Avoncroft
Museum also offers and Outreach service, Loans service and another off
site cottage to explore. Rosedene
is an unspoilt Chartist cottage from the 1850’s.

Pupils
spend whole days at Rosedene exploring many aspects of Victorian domestic
life in a series of curriculum linked activity sessions.
If you would like further information about these areas, please
contact the Museum directly. Avoncroft is a 3 times winner of the Sandford award for
Heritage Education and as such, has a proven record of excellence in the
field of Heritage Education.
