Dance, Dance, Dance
Expression, movement, freedom, power, agility, strength, grace,
rhythm, dance. Dance is personal, dance is amazing, dance needs
discipline and dedication, dance is fun, dance is the freedom to be
yourself.
Dance is the use of gesture and movement to transform images, ideas,
and feelings into meanings and is a natural means of communication and
expression. If you enjoy music and it makes you want to move then you
have begun to dance. If you want to know more about Modern Jazz,
Classical Ballet or Tap dance, then contact us.
Perhaps you are thinking about dance as a career. Maybe you have
already had lessons or perhaps you simply want to enjoy dance. During
the past 35 years BTDA has been at the forefront of dance education,
never afraid to take on new challenges in its efforts to raise both
awareness and the standards of dance education.
The British Theatre Dance Association was established in 1972 and now
has a network of teachers throughout the United Kingdom as well as
overseas. This means that you are never too far away from a qualified
dance teacher.
Our qualifications cover a number of levels within the National
Qualifications Framework and can lead to a Level 4 Diploma in Theatre
Dance. Vocational awards in theatre dance are new and can offer an
extra dimension to the qualifications a dance student can gain.
Vocational awards are available in Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz and
Tap. General Graded examinations, available at levels 1, 2 and 3 of
the National Qualifications Framework, are also available in different
styles of dance including Acrobatic, Greek, and Lyrical. Our medal
test system is a performance based award and enables you to perform in
front of an audience and so gain the necessary skills, experience and
confidence required to be a dancer. Beginners can start with a Bronze
Medal and go on to gain high level awards for more advanced solo
performances.
You are never too old to dance so even if you didn’t want to take
dance as a career, it is a good option to keep you fit and healthy,
encouraging confidence, self assurance, discipline and artistry, so
you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Contact the British
Theatre Dance Association. |
