Who are we?
CRAC is an educational charity and is governed by a council of trustees. We work with a wide network of stakeholders in employment, government, education and career specialists and have particular expertise in the development, management and delivery of partnership projects.

CRAC is divided into business areas that are designed with our stakeholders in mind. Our flexible approach enables us to meet the needs of our stakeholders by ……

  • providing expertise and support for a one-off project

  • advising and managing a long-term scheme

  • becoming a partner in a new venture

How can we help?

  • We can help you with the transition from education to the world of work

  • We can put you in touch with careers professionals for information, advice and guidance

  • We can keep you abreast of latest developments in the careers world

  • If you are an employer we can help you with staff development, recruitment profile and career development

  • We can tell you about publications (both ours and other peoples’) which will help your career management

  • We can help you with your student finances

  • ‘CRAC is not a recruitment agency and does not offer career counselling on a one-to-one basis’

The Insight Programme
Many thousands of young students and undergraduates have benefited from tackling ‘real-life’ business challenges together at CRAC’s learning events. Insights  3-day intensive, active learning experience. The model uses business simulations from a wide variety of sectors to give students an insight into how business works and what a career in business might mean.  No two courses are alike: participants could be planning a marketing campaign for a new brand of toothpaste, negotiating for extra funding as a local government officer or dealing with the trials and tribulations of a dot.com start up company.  The learning is delivered, not by the usual range of career advisers, lecturers or teachers, but by managers from the public, private and voluntary sector. Case studies and business simulations provide an insight into the reality of the workplace. Skills workshops on presentations, negotiation & decision-making are also held to help participants develop those vital key skills.

Higher Education Summer Schools
Insights are also working in conjunction with 5 universities on Higher Education Summer Schools. As part of the Excellence in Cities initiative designed to help raise aspirations and encourage more applications from inner city areas, these week long schools give Post-16 students a taste of university life. Running throughout the summer at universities across the UK, Insights are running employability sessions raising awareness of how essential the key skills are both in education and the world of work.

InsightPlus™
Today’s employers want not only a strong academic record from their graduate recruits, but evidence of strong leadership skills, the ability to work in teams, effective communication and an understanding of how organisations work.  Insight Plus (IP) will establish a national award for undergraduate key skills development. It will provide a framework for the accreditation of different types of casual work experience, including involvement in clubs and societies and volunteering in the community, as well as part-time paid work.
