Educational Computing Services Ltd offers resources in the Computing field to educational institutions. It has established a reputation for supplying resources for the teaching of Advanced Level Computing and more recently the new AS Level qualification. Periodically it organises training courses and conferences for teachers of Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary Level Computing. In response to the growing teacher shortage it has recently expanded one of its web sites - www.teachingposts.co.uk - to accept the posting of teaching vacancies. Initially, this was in recognition of the difficulty of finding qualified teachers of Advanced Level Computing but the site also now covers the entire secondary and primary sectors. This site is due to move from its current soft launch phase to its fully launched phase on January 20th, 2002. The company plans to extend this site in the future to include the curriculum vita of teachers so that prospective employers may search on-line for suitable staff. Educational institutions may register on-line through www.teachingposts.co.uk. As a special introductory offer the first five hundred institutions to register to advertise teaching vacancies in 2002 will be charged only £100 to advertise an unlimited number of teaching vacancies during 2002 on www.teachingposts.co.uk .

The site www.teachingposts.co.uk also includes news and resource sections of relevance to practising teachers. Although, at present, the focus of the resource section is mainly the field of computing, there are plans to expand this section to include other subjects. We are looking for contributors to the news section and welcome enquiries from budding authors.

The introduction of a new post-sixteen curriculum has meant many changes to teaching programmes. Educational Computing Services has produced CD-ROM based resources for both the new AS Level and the A2 Level Computing specifications. At present it is researching providing lesson material on-line including video-based lessons. We welcome enquiries from budding authors who have material that they think would be publishable.

We can advise educational institutions on Linux-based networks and provide training courses on setting up and using a Linux-based network. The attraction of a Linux-based network is the very low licensing costs.

Samples of our resources may be obtained from our www.educational-computing.co.uk site.
