EPSON provides a
comprehensive range of colour imaging products for the education market.
These include laser printers, inkjet printers, projectors, scanners and
digital cameras. While it is expected that a projector, scanner and inkjet
produce quality colour output, most schools are still using monochrome
laser printers.
Colour laser printing is no longer an expensive luxury. Today an EPSON
AcuLaser C900 and C1900 make it an affordable reality. With the AcuLasers’
low cost monochrome printing at just 0.96 pence per page*, there really is
no need to buy a separate monochrome laser printer again.
The importance of colour
Giving
students the opportunity to produce high quality colour work not only
promotes interactivity in the classroom but also results in an increase in
the motivation levels of students. Such results are visible at Balby Carr
School in Doncaster. The School has invested in PC and colour printing
facilities for its 1,450 pupils. To accompany each IT suite the school
purchased an EPSON AcuLaser printer and as a result is benefiting from
much needed cost savings on colour printing.
In addition to budget-freeing advantages, students are motivated when
working on projects involving printing because of the compelling effect of
colour. Steve Holt, IT project manager says: “In the past, when a project
was printed from a mono laser there was always a level of disappointment.
Now students are keen to spend more time on the presentation and design to
produce striking end results”.
Encouraging creativity
Colour
printing also encourages creativity and the opportunity to introduce new
and varying activities to aid learning. The London Design Museum made
maximum use of the EPSON Stylus Photo 925 during workshops at a recent
exhibition entitled “Unseen Vogue”.
The exhibition featured unseen footage by a selection of photographers
commissioned by Vogue Magazine. After being photographed for their cover
shots with a digital camera, the images of the children were printed onto
an EPSON Stylus Photo 925. The Children then used lay-out and collage
techniques to design and produce their own magazine covers.
Kelly Harrison at the museum says, "We thought that the EPSON prints gave
this activity a professional quality which gave each of the children an
insight into real life professional design practice”.
