Travelling alone? Our
holidays appeal strongly to the single-traveller and we don't charge a
supplement for those travelling on their own. Our holidays operate on the
principle of shared accommodation in same-sex twin rooms (except for
couples/friends). Should you want more privacy during your trip, however,
on many of our tours you can upgrade by requesting your own room. About
half our members start out alone but, by the very nature of the holiday,
you soon make friends.

Short Breaks
Our Short Breaks brochure (formally Adventure Breaks) offers
shorter durations than our main programme, but draws on all our
experience and our unique recipe of diverse places, phenomenal
sites and fantastic people. With itineraries from just four days
to eight nights in duration, you can fulfil many of life's great
travel ambitions with only a few days off work. With over 26 trips
to choose from, discovering Finland to Uganda, Lebanon to Poland,
we have so much to offer the intrepid traveller in just a few days
away, including 5 new trips in our 2006/7 brochure. Explore your

Explore Family Adventures
32 action-packed holiday adventures specially created for families
(children aged 5 or over). The programme is brimming with a rich blend
of culture, wildlife, activity and fun from the thrill of riding an
elephant in Thailand's remote tribal villages to camping-nomad style
in the Sahara. As with our adult programme, the trip is led by an
experienced tour leader to ensure everything runs smoothly and you'll
also have a chance to make friends with other like-minded families on
your tour. Departure dates have been planned to fit around school
holidays and durations are between 3 and 15 nights.

Explore Cycle
Explore is delighted to offer our third dedicated cycling brochure
with a whole range of new trips.
As ever, our focus is on easy-going to moderate and off-road cycling,
from 3 to 16 days and spanning four continents. By Pedalling along
rural backroads and byways, and at our own pace, we really can get
closer to nature and the local people. Alongside last year's far-flung
favourites, we've added Canada, Cyprus, the Czech Republic and Iceland
to the cycling map.
And, with vineyards and cycling proving such a popular combination,
now there's even more choice for the connoisseur on two wheels!

Explore On Foot
From Explore's very first pioneering days, exploration on foot has
been central to our idea of a holiday. Providing an active, sociable
and unhurried experience, a walking trip will always take you 'closer'
- right to the heart of the community or habitat you are visiting.
Whilst keeping our impact on the environment and culture to a minimum,
our kind of pro-active and sustainable travel aims to benefit our
hosts as well, thus providing a great alternative to the juggernaut of
mass tourism.
Choice and flexibility have been the key ingredients; with 3 different
routes up Kilimanjaro for instance, or the option of several
Centre-Based if you prefer to return to a familiar home from home
after your daily hikes.
