Firepower! the Royal Artillery
Museum is located in the historic Royal Arsenal, the world's centre for
munitions manufacture, Firepower takes you from slingshot to supergun,
starting in the Field of Fire, where big screens, dramatic surround sound
and moving eye-witness accounts illuminate the conflicts of the 20th
century.
Children can see and touch artillery from early cannon to modern missile
systems. Learn how they work with touch-screen interactives. They can get
their hands on in the Real Weapon gallery to find out how ammunition
reaches its target and what it does when it gets there.

The Royal Artillery Museum has
a lot of work with schools In the Greenwich Borough and most schools
within a 50-mile radius. Combined Cadet Forces visits also are popular.

Fours back again"
Teachers interested in taking a group to Firepower should contact Sarah
Cully, the museums educationalist, who will take school parties around the
museum and explain the link between artillery and the surrounding
buildings. The museum can offer a £3 entry per child where teachers or
adults go free.

(KS2), Woman Workers of the Arsenal (KS3). Firepower also has programmes
for a level English and History.
Sarah Cully, Firepower's Head of Education says: "We are keen to attract
schools to visit Firepower. It is important for them to be educated about
the science and history of Artillery and to learn about the men and women
who served the guns.

"The history of the Royal
Arsenal site is also important, especially as a great deal of the work was
classified top secret at the time. There is so much to learn about the
site where Firepower is located"
The museum is open from Friday until Sunday until the end of March. From
the beginning of April it will open from Wednesdays to Sundays. However,
school parties are welcome any day of the week by prior arrangement.
