Gap placements are carefully structured to offer an extension to
the skills taught at school. Students can develop existing areas
of study such as languages, geography, social sciences, social
work, leisure and tourism and they can prepare for careers in
caring, medicine, teaching and many more. What the national
curriculum does not provide are the huge benefits gained from
being integrated into a different culture and society. |

Gap
volunteers return more independent, more culturally aware and
with an inspiration for life. They also gain confidence from
undertaking and succeeding in a challenge that is completely
different. Not only have our Gappers understood the benefits of
volunteering but many return conversationally fluent in another
language, have the ability to teach or coach a group of people
and have a focus on their own lives inspired by their travels.
A placement with Gap Activity Projects can also help your
students complete several areas of their Duke of Edinburgh Award
Scheme.
