Women’s Body Fragrance Focus

Fragrance is an integral part of our everyday routine, just like brushing our hair or layering on the mascara. Most of us, however, don’t know and appreciate how fragrance actually works, what it means and how you should use it to maximize the fragrance potential. Fragrance can do many things, it can make you feel happy, energetic and most important of all – confident.

Most of us have a confidence ‘tool kit’ (whether we know it or not!) that we dive into when we need a confidence boost, this could range from a date with the boy you’ve fancied for ages or an exam for example. For some its putting on our favourite lip gloss, others find wearing their killer heels makes them feel indestructible. Fragrance is a key part of the confidence tool kit, as it can lift you to a fantastic mood where you can do anything!

Body Fragrance, Deodorant, Anti-Perspirant? – What’s the difference?

With all the different fragrance products on the market, it can be rather confusing deciphering what are they all for, what you need and how they work together. It’s easy to explain:

  • Anti perspirants are available in aerosol spray, roll on, stick and cream applicators. They are used directly on the armpits to stop perspiration and bad odour, preventing embarrassing sweat patches and nasty smells.

  • Body Fragrances are light perfumes for use all over the body, giving you a fresh tingly sensation and a burst of gorgeous fragrance.

  • For optimum confidence use both the body fragrance and antiperspirant together, you’ll stay dry and sweet-smelling all day and night!

Fragrance – the ultimate confidence tool

Different fragrances can be used for different purposes – some will put a zing in your step, while others will help you relax and unwind.  Fragrances can:

  • Help induce calm

  • Improve work performance

  • Elevate moods

  • Act as a pick me up

  • Stimulate memory and alertness

  • Enhance self-image

There is such a strong correlation between fragrance and emotion it even has a name – ‘Aroma-chology’. This is the science which studies the relationship between fragrance and feelings, looking at how smell can drastically improve mood. The right fragrance at the right time can give you a fantastic confidence boost, if you are feeling under the weather a refreshing spritz of a gorgeous fragrance can do wonders for your self-esteem!

Psychologist Donna Dawson explains:

“One way to feel really confident is to smell good. Smell is the only sense directly connected to the brain: odours are sent directly through the olfactory nerves in the upper part of the nose to the ‘limbic’ area of the brain, which processes emotions and memory”

So fragrance helps us to feel confident, but how can we tap into this everyday? A light body fragrance is the perfect solution. Impulse has a range of eight great value body fragrances, each with its own personality and gorgeous scent, so there is always one to suit every mood. The empowering fragrance of Goddess is perfect to get you in the mood for an evening party, while Thrill body fragrance will inspire you to live life at full volume and do something daring! Therefore its important to keep a body fragrance with you at all times, in your sports bag, school bag or party clutch bag for when you need a confidence spritz! Here are some tips on how to use body fragrance to its full potential:

  • Always spray fragrance on your skin, not clothes as it can stain and it may distort the scent.

  • Always test a scent on yourself, scent never smells the same on the same people.

  • You should spray your fragrance all over your body, concentrating on the lower half as scent rises like heat.

Fragrance Tips

To help you harness the positive benefits of fragrance in your everyday life, the experts at Impulse have put together some simple tips that will fit easily into even the busiest of lifestyles:

  • After your morning shower, spray an Impulse body fragrance all over your body, to revitalise your skin and invigorate your senses.

  • Burn a vanilla candle when you are studying to promote calm and help you concentrate.

  • Relieve tension and relax fraught nerves with fresh cut flowers such as freesias or roses.

  • If you’re anxious about going to the dentist, the scent of orange will help to calm you down.
