Youth Moves
Youth Moves is the youth section of the Keep Fit Association (KFA), the KFA has been around a long time and it has trained teachers all over England to run fitness classes. Fitness classes with a difference, helping people achieve fitness through movement and dance and have fun at the same time. Result? People who are well energetic, healthy and happy too.
Healthy habits make healthy bodies and minds and being fit is an important part of being healthy.
Here comes the science!
Being fit means having the energy to do lots of things, even spending time on the dance floor moving to the latest sounds. It means having
Stamina - making sure the heart and lungs send enough oxygen to the working muscles to keep you going for a long time
Muscular strength and muscular endurance - strong and toned muscles give a you good body image and support the bones, so less chance of injury.
Flexibility - you can use the full potential of your body, do the splits, perform a high kick, score a conversion at rugby.
Co-ordination - being able to do multiple things at one time, making any movement look smooth and easy
Agility - moving round quickly and efficiently, turning/jumping/falling with ease
Power - being able to move quickly and strongly - off the blocks like Linford Christie
Both health and skill related fitness will be achieved in Youth Moves classes. If you enjoy other activities like dancing, football, rowing, and athletics it will help you too, because your fitness levels and skill levels will be improved. Research tells us that being active also helps us in the classroom, so the brain will work more efficiently too, better SAT scores and more GCSE * grades.
Youth Moves classes are taken by qualified, experienced and professional teachers; teachers who are enthusiastic about their work and enjoy having fun. Every class will include both warm up and cool down sections and in between anything could happen - variety not monotony is the order of the day. You will have a chance to explore the dynamics of movement for yourself and an opportunity to develop your own creativity - you will be taking an active part in shaping the lessons, decision making, working with others, developing communication skills, getting confidence in your own ability.
