Kickstart Publications have been producing materials dedicated to Special Educational Needs and Basic Skills for twelve years. Each book covers a specific skill, or a small group of skills, with far greater depth and much tighter structure than many alternative publications. The depth and structure reflects the many years of experience in the field of Special Needs in general and Dyslexia in particular.

Our publications conform to the following attributes:

  • Illustrations are age neutral and do not patronise older learners.

  • Texts used have an interest level consistent with the age of the intended learners.

  • Page layout clear and uncluttered. Tasks are clear and require little explanation by the teacher.

  • Fonts used are chosen for clarity and easy discrimination between letters e.t a~d, i~l

  • Where materials include bodies of text, the Readability age of each piece of text is given at the front of the book as part of the contents.

  • Our books recognise the multicultural nature of our society.

  • Comprehensive teacher’s notes provide suggestions for supplementary activities are included.

  • Checklists are included where appropriate.
