Established in Osaka,
Japan in 1969 by Kagemasa Kozuzi, Konami is one of the video game
industry's biggest success stories. From its beginnings as a jukebox hire
and repair shop, Kozuki-san - who is still President and Chief Executive
Officer of Konami - entered the field of entertainment and amusement
arcade machines four years later. By 1984, Konami had opened successful
offices in the US, UK and a key German subsidiary and expanded into home
formats.
It now has offices in North and South America, across Europe and Asia. In
excess of 1,000 employees work in the development studios alone, creating
top video games for consoles such as PlayStation 2, PSOne, Game Boy
Advance, Xbox and GameCube.
Some of Konami’s most famous titles over the
years include:
-

design and manufacture products that respond to the changing needs of the
market. Children are getting older younger, and expect entertainment that
is advanced in technology. Konami’s cutting edge technology, combined with
their flair for innovation makes sure they are at the forefront of the
European Toy and Hobby market. From small high performance toys like the
Micro IR series through to mechanical toys and electrical toys, there is
something for all ages.
Konami's Toy and Hobby division designs, manufactures and sells card
games, character goods, printed matter, prize products, music CDs,
handheld games, electronic toys and candy toys. The core of the business
for Konami has become the card games, which have gained phenomenal
popularity from a wide range of customers. Yu-Gi-Oh, for example, has
taken the international market by storm. The MICROiR series, small high
performance cars using infrared controllers, are also a very large part of
Konami's business.
