About
us…..
At Mountain Water Experience we provide an outstanding personal service in
a friendly and highly professional working environment. Our range of
adventurous activity courses cover a wide variety of outdoor pursuits from
kayaking and climbing to caving and coasteering. Every course is tailored
to meet your specific requirements as well as the individual needs of the
group members. Within the centre we can provide facilities for self-run
courses as well as an excellent background of local knowledge from which
to plan your visit.
We
are a small centre with a very friendly group of staff. As a result our
service is individual to each group, and specific to their requirements,
whether it be curriculum fulfilment or otherwise. All staff have
experience of working with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds
and are fully qualified in the activities undertaken.

Adventurous
Activities.
Students at
key stage 3 and 4 are now required to cover a programme of Citizenship
within the National Curriculum in which participation and responsibility
are a large focus. Whilst we provide the chance to experience the
activities there are excellent opportunities for the students to learn
soft skills inherent within them. They will challenge themselves as
individuals, participate as team members, and can spend time reflecting on
their roles within the group. A course at Mountain water Experience
provides an excellent springboard from which students discuss their wider
personal role in the community.
Many
schools with sixth forms provide an enrichment programme alongside the
curriculum, where Year 12 students benefit through developing their role
as a group member, as well as discovering hidden personal strengths.
Schools could choose to undertake adventurous activities during this kind
of project through a
programme of short sessions, or an annual ‘Active Learning’ week,
where non-specialist staff have the chance to be involved. Some use them
as teambuilding courses at the start of an academic year for a specific
group of students. The type of challenging activities that we can provide
are also excellent for covering the various aspects of schemes such as the
Youth Award in secondary schools.

Self
Run Courses.
Many subjects
in the curriculum benefit from work completed out of the school situation,
which through first hand experience encourages enthusiasm and independent
learning. We can provide local knowledge and centre facilities to enable
your students to complete studies using the variety of environments around
the centre.
This
can be applied to fieldwork aspects of geography and biology at all key
stages but here are many ways that our centre location can be used to full
advantage for other areas of the curriculum too. It is ideally situated
for using a wide variety of environmental stimuli and a good place to
focus on a project away form the distractions of the real world! It is
also in an excellent location from which to access established centres
like the Eden Project. www.mountainwaterexperience.com
