Pentel Co Ltd is a privately owned Japanese company, whose name combines
the sense of pencil and pastel. Pentel Co Ltd started operation as “The
Japan Stationery Co Ltd” in 1946, when Yukio Horie began the manufacture
and sale of school stationery products such as crayons and paint. Mr
Horie, a great innovator and visionary, remained Chairman of Pentel Co
Ltd until he retired after 53 years, handing over to his grandson, Mr
Keima Horie, who shares the same vision and passion for products of the
highest performance and quality.
One of the first Japanese companies to invest in the UK, Pentel arrived
in London in 1967. A year later, Pentel (Stationery) Ltd came into being
as a wholly owned sales, marketing and distribution subsidiary. Other
subsidiaries created at the time were located in countries such as Hong
Kong, the USA, Germany and Australia.
In 1973, the Ball Pentel rollerball, with its distinctive green barrel,
was put on the market and subsequently launched the era of the
water-based disposable ink pen. In 2001 it celebrated 25 years as the
top-performing rollerball and is still as popular as ever.
Pentel (Stationery) Ltd moved to new, purpose-built premises at South
Marston Park, Swindon in May 1992 – thus doubling the company’s
warehouse space. The strategic choice of Swindon as a location was
prompted by its first class access to the motorway network and customers
throughout the UK.

products on the market, under the name 'Recycology'. Made from more
than 50% recycled materials, the polypropylene display books, files and
document wallets are available in a range of colours and sizes. While
the common perception of many recycled products is that they often
compromise quality, the Recycology range offers excellent quality
products at a competitive price
With today’s range of over 140 products
in the UK including gel-ink, liquid-ink and water-based rollerballs,
ballpoint pens, fine liners, automatic pencils, refill leads, correction

whiteboards, where the vivid, long-lasting liquid ink stands out
strongly. It also boasts a unique push-button ink replenishment system

while.

artists, as the sticks are easy to hold and can be blended to
produce an interesting mix of colours.
Pentel’s Handwriter Pen is an ideal writing instrument for
younger writers and those who have a tendency to press hard. Its
durable tip performs excellently under pressure, making it
suitable for those who are developing their handwriting skills. |
