Who are we?
Rapid has been a supplier to schools, colleges and universities for over 25 years, providing a fast and efficient service of best value products and components. Whatever your resource needs, we are here to help.

What do we do?
Rapid stocks over 32,000 product lines. Our portfolio includes a vast range of products for Design & technology, Art & Craft, Robotics, Electronic Project Kits, ICT, Science and Laboratory Equipment, Health & Safety Equipment, Electronic Components and Stationary Products, to name but few.

Building on the success of our main catalogue for schools we have recently launched several catalogues especially for education.

The Science catalogue encompasses products for key stages 3 to 4 and includes Physics, Electronics, Chemistry and Biology as well as essential Health and Safety equipment. The comprehensive range covers all aspects of scientific equipment from test tubes, magnets and thermometers, to data loggers, power supplies and an extended range of electronic project kits based on the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The Primary catalogue focuses on products to suit younger students in key stages 1 & 2 and includes everything from Art and Craft materials, Paints and Accessories, Textiles and Magnets, to Chemistry, Electronics and Biology accessories.

The Design and Technology catalogue focuses on students in key stage 1 to 4 and includes everything you need from basic electronic components, constructional materials, project kits, PIC based projects, moving vehicle and clock making components to tools, soldering equipment and test equipment.

Projects, Activities & Sponsorships
Rapid is highly involved in a number of projects and activities throughout the UK, working closely with schools and educational establishments such as sponsoring Tendering Technology College’s “Phatman” vehicle in the Greenpower Formula 24 Marathon.

Rapid managing director, Paul Baker said: “By being closely involved in design and technology projects, we gain valuable feedback that helps us develop future catalogues, products and services to best meet the needs of our education customers”.

West Nottinghamshire College’s South Pole Challenge, saw a team of staff and students successfully trek ‘the last degree’ on foot to the pole, gaining invaluable experience of ambition, endurance, survival and leadership.

Stepping Stones special needs nurseries provide exceptional learning support to children up to 16 years of age with physical disabilities. They also offer invaluable support and respite for parents. This year Rapid is pleased to be sponsoring Stepping Stones Grand Summer Ball.

For two years now Toyota Manufacturing UK and Rapid have joined forces to organise the Toyota Technology Challenge. To enter this exciting competition, designed for key stage 3 & 4, students have to build and design an environmentally friendly model vehicle. Teams progress through the competition stages, representing their school at regional and national level. Students have the opportunity to win up to £1,000 in cash for their school, trophies and for the best of the best in each category, a trip to Greece.

The University of Strathclyde Electronics Club has also recently benefited from Rapid’s sponsorship. The club provides a well equipped venue where all undergraduate students can undertake the construction and testing of their electronic circuit designs, with easy access to constructional advice and test equipment.

Rapid has also joined forces with Setpoint Cambridgeshire, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, the Institute of Physics and Exscite Ltd, to assist in Cambridge Science Festival’s Einstein™ Year Radio Challenge & Competition, in which entrants had to complete the assembly of an AM Radio Kit and design and build a suitable case for it.
