On
March 2004, the newly restored John Madejski
Fine Rooms at Burlington House, opened to the public. Visitors
can savour a suite of neoclassical interiors that have remained hidden
for over two centuries, enjoying a journey into the cultural politics
of the 18th century and the birthplace of a new architectural style. |

The
rooms now house items from the RA’s own magnificent collection of
nearly 850 paintings, 350 sculptures and 6000 architectural drawings,
including works by Constable, Turner, and Hockney, dating back to the
foundation of the Academy in 1768.
The Tennant Room will host changing themed exhibitions of works within
the RA’s collection
Michelangelo’s Taddei Tondo, the only sculpture by Michelangelo in
Britain, is on permanent display outside the Sackler Galleries
The Little Dancer, by Degas, is on loan to the RA and can be seen in
the Reynolds Room.
