Sainsbury’s launched Active Kids in 2005 to try and address declining levels of exercise and increasing levels of obesity in children and young adults. Since 2005 over £52 million of equipment and resources have been delivered to schools as part of the initiative.

It involves an in-store voucher collection scheme which encourages parents and children to be more active and eat healthily - and have loads of fun in the process!

The Active Kids campaign has proven to be a huge success and it’s growing every year! Last year alone a record 233 million Active Kids vouchers were redeemed. Primary and Secondary schools across the country were able to exchange these vouchers for a share of an amazing £18 million worth of Active Kids equipment and experiences.

This year promises to be the biggest and best Active Kids campaign yet!

NEW for 2008

You can now use your vouchers to go and see top sports stars up close at live sporting events. Rugby Union, netball or basketball - it’s your choice!

Also new this year, you’ll be able to donate your vouchers and equipment to schools that have a greater need for them. If you’re a school with a link to another school in a developing country you’ll be able to send them special sports packs.

You’ll also be able to donate your vouchers to an Active Kids fund. Schools participating in the Youth Sport Trust TOP programmes can then apply to this Active Kids fund to receive a TOP activity pack which is packed full of equipment and ideas for fun activities.
