Who we are?
Save the Children fights for children in the UK and around the world
who suffer from poverty, disease, injustice and violence. We work with
them to find lifelong answers to the problems they face. Save the
Children works in the UK, South East Europe, The Middle East, Africa,
Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
How did we start?
Save the Children was formed in 1919 to help children who had been
affected by the First World War and to change the world for the
better. Our founder, Eglantyne Jebb worked to place the rights of
children at the heart of international thinking. And we fight just as
hard for children today. |

Young children take part in activities at the
early years activity centre, Kilinjalmedu village. Kilinjalmedu
village, on the coast of south India, was badly hit by the
tsunami. Save the Children has built and equipped a temporary
activity centre here for children aged 0-6. |
