Snow+Rock has been in business
for 20 years bringing the finest outdoor and winter sports clothing and
equipment together under one roof. We have a huge range of over 10,000
items from expedition tents to surf shorts to skis and snowboards.
Our Managing Director, Mike
Browne, an enthusiastic skier and mountaineer, formed Snow+Rock in the
autumn of 1982. Over the years, a passion for life outdoors has lead Mike
and the Snow+Rock team to search out top quality clothing and equipment so
you can enjoy your leisure pursuits to the full whether strolling in the
New Forest, skiing the back bowls of Chamonix, or climbing Everest.
Our top-level reputation comes from thorough specialist knowledge of our
subject, the customer service we provide and our special guarantees.
The original shop in High
Street Kensington, quickly became a small chain of stores complemented by
a mail order operation. In 1993 the first 'superstore' was added and the
company at this point entered a phase of concentrated expansion with a
further three shops opened over the following five years. A new warehouse
and head office were also established to meet the demands of the retail
operation.
In 2002 we opened another
outlet in the Portsmouth, bringing the total to nine stores. We are also
having a new purpose built head office and warehousing facility, which can
meet the demands of our growing company over the next 10 years. The
benefits and cost savings of bringing together head office and warehousing
will enable the company to reduce its operating costs allowing further
retail expansion both within the UK and looking further into Europe.
The company's directors are
the sole shareholders of the company and are all involved in a working
capacity with day-to-day activity. This enables the company to focus its
efforts on growing the business and gives greater freedom in how we go
about this development. Although an entrepreneurial company, the balance
within the board group brings solidity and strong control to growth and
direction.
