If you have drive,
enthusiasm, determination and an ambition to work in the TV industry,
StartinTV can help you achieve your aim.
www.startintv.com
is a service helping newcomers to get that all-important first job in TV
as, for instance, a Runner, Researcher or new Presenter.
The
site is seen as a valued resource for the TV industry helping busy TV
Producers find new talent to join their teams. StartinTV members add their
specially-created CV, and photograph if desired to a database of New
Talent which is searched by registered TV employers actively seeking new
people to join their teams. As StartinTV is internet-based, employers are
all over the UK and beyond.

Who is it for?
Getting into TV in the
first place is very difficult. Most professionals will start with a spell
working as a Runner, often on a casual, work experience basis, which then
turns into a permanent job. From here, they might go on to become a
Researcher and then perhaps a Director, Producer or Presenter. But it’s
getting that first work opportunity, that foot in the door, that’s
difficult.
StartinTV aims to help people secure that first job and get their TV
career off the ground. We don’t deal with ‘seasoned professionals’, and
are recognised in the industry to represent newcomers with little or no
experience.

National
advertising is not always a suitable way to recruit for TV roles,
particularly at ground level, as employers are likely to be inundated with
unsuitable applications. By using
www.startintv.com,
the same employers can go straight to the people who are best for them. At
last, it means that your own skills, experience, abilities and interests
make you stand out from the crowd. It puts you in the right place, at the
right time.

Members join by logging onto the website,
www.startintv.com,
and can then create a CV, following the on-site guide and template. This
CV is then added to a database which is made available, free of charge to
TV Producers and programme-makers. Each employer is checked out to ensure
they are bonifide before being given a free password giving them access to
the site to search for the people they need. If they are making a
programme about sailing, then clearly someone with extensive experience of
sailing is going to be most useful as a runner.
Each time a members' CV is looked at by an employer, an email is
automatically generated to that individual to tell them which prospective
employer is viewing their details.

If you’re a student you
are entitled to discounted membership of £55 to join StartinTV. To find out more, or to join StartinTV as a member, simply log on to
www.startintv.com and follow the step-by-step guide.
There must be a charge for the service and it
was shown, after extensive research, that charging Producers would
discourage them from using the site. In addition, offering the service
free to the public would attract membership from those not serious about a
career in the industry, but merely interested in ‘getting on the telly’.
As a result the credibility of the site would soon diminish.
Success stories
StartinTV members have got
jobs as runners, researchers and presenters through the service. Indeed,
many are now using the service themselves to find people to employ and
work with them in their new jobs. Take a look at the news page on
www.startintv.com to find out more.
