Since
its 1984 television launch in the UK television, Thomas the Tank
Engine & Friends has captured the hearts and
minds of children and their grown ups throughout the world.
Thomas
is a cheeky fussy little Engine who often gets into scrapes, usually by
being over-eager to do things best left to bigger and more sensible
Engines.
However, clouds never last long in Thomas’ life, and he’s soon
bustling about again, playing his part in the Station Yard and on his very
own Branch Line, of which he is extremely proud.
Based
upon The Railway Series of Books first written by The Rev Awdry during the
1940s, and adapted for television by award-winning producer Britt Allcroft,
Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends has been broadcast in
over 120 countries and translated into 19 languages.

Thomas’
official web site, www.thomasthetankengine.com,
extends the magic of the Island of Sodor fantasy online, and attracts over
400,000 visitors every month.
The site is updated monthly, and includes simple on-line games,
print-offable colouring sheets, all the latest Thomas news, plus a Railway
of the Month feature.
There’s an email link to Sir Topham Hatt, The Fat Controller, who
personally replies to over 1000 young friends each month.
Targeted at children aged 2-7 years, the young Thomas fan will
particularly enjoy the automated Engine Shed game, whilst older fans can
build their own Thomas page within the confines of the site.
www.thomasthetankengine.com
also features an online gallery of children’s work, and a Depot
to view images and details of every Engine and piece of rolling stock from
the TV series.
An
online shop, stocking one of the UK’s widest selections of Thomas
& Friends toys, books, videos and games at competitive High
Street prices, is also available.
